The Ministry of Niger Delta will now be call “Ministry of Regional Development”. This new ministry will oversee various regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the North West Development Commission, the South West Development Commission, and the North East Development Commission.

In place of the Ministry of Sports Development, the “National Sports Commission” will be responsible for managing sports-related matters in the country.

The Ministry of Niger Delta was previously led by Abubakar Momoh, while John Enoh was in charge of the Ministry of Sports Development.

The decision was made during the FEC meeting held on Wednesday, 23 October, in Abuja, as announced by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, through his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

In addition, the FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, reflecting the administration’s efforts to streamline governance.
